It primarily govern by the Information technology act, 2000. It was enacted to provide legal recognition for electronic transactions and to combat cyber crime.

Negotiable Instrument Act 1881

It defines and regulates the law surrounding instruments like promissory notes, bills of exchange and cheque. It makes dishonor of cheque a criminal offence under chapter XVII, US 138-147.
